Another ME concerning the infamous "Tank Man", but this one is not about his death, it's about where this incident took place. When I went to do some research on the situation, I kept getting the spelling wrong, and this is how it came up, Tiananmen.
I know that this is transliterated Chinese and sometimes words can be transliterated in different ways, but I clearly remember it being spelled "Tianammen".
What also stands out in my mind is the way a Chinese man pronounced it on a documentary about the event. "Tian-ammen", with the stress on the second "a", much different from the way it's said in English. I found some other articles spelling it the way I remember, so at least I know that I'm not just mistaken.
