Mole...

Let me start by saying that I've worked in several college book stores when in college and after college, so I've seen my share of Moleskin journals, which were sold in every college bookstore I've ever been in. 

Last week, I had to create a sign for the journals at my current job and was shocked to see the extra "e" on the end of the name. Since when did "skine" spell "skin". A lot of searches come up as "Moleskin", although when you click on the link, the spelling is "Moleskine". 

 
It's late now and I'm not very articulate at the moment, but you get the picture. As usual, the spelling just up and changed.
