Dear Uncle

I thought I'd capture this one before the residue vanishes.

Our beloved Uncle Sam's hat is now completely white on top. You'd think that the man who's the symbol of the good ol' U. S. of A. would would be representing the stars AND the stripes, but no the stripes are now gone. Maybe they went to the same place as Mickey's suspenders

Of course, we know how the hat used to look, it was the American flag, itself. Search the internet for "Uncle Sam hat" and it's all you see.

Even black and white drawings show the stripes.

Costumes and many other drawings show the striped, American flag hat.

Are they going to one day tell us that Uncle Sam never had stripes on his hat like the Monopoly Man, who supposedly never had a monocle?

  1. I clearly remember the Monopoly Man having a monocle. In one of the Ace Ventura movies with Jim Carrey there's actually a reference to the monocle. When Ventura sees a man wearing a monocle, he says "So you must be the Monopoly Man" (google it).

    1. I've seen that scene before. There are a gazillion cultural references to the Monopoly Man with a monocle on top of us all remembering him with a monocle.
