Egyptian Phar...

Geography and spelling MEs really annoy the hell out of me because those were the two subjects that I was very good at growing up. In addition, many MEs have specific incidents associated with them, so no one can tell me that I'm misremembering. This is one of them.

Pharoah. Another spelling change out of the blue. My incident concerning this is that when I was 8 years old and reading my children's bible. I had never seen this word before and didn't even know what it meant. I sounded it out, like small children do. Pha-ro-ah. I pronounced it "fa-ro-ah" until my mom told me how to pronounce it. Now, it's spelled "pharaoh", which changes the pronunciation if you pronounced it the way it's spelled. (Like most "new" spellings.)

Newspaper clippings from the past spelled the word the way I remember.

No, I am not a bad speller!

  1. Okay, that's weird! I live in Austria and can tell it was always PharAOH in GERMAN! Not Pharoah. I don't think it was Pharoah in English either. This really makes me think if it's some thing of mind control because I don't believe in parallel universes and I was always very good at spelling too!

  2. How can you say that it WASN'T "pharoah" in English? That's the whole point of the Mandela Effect! I know what I read when I was little! I just gave a specific example of my experience with this spelling and I can assure you that I am not under any kind of mind control! These articles above from U.S. newspapers are clear proof that it was spelled that way at some point. You don't have to believe in parallel universes. There is no definitive answer for what is causing the Mandela Effect.

    1. This has been happening since at least 2007; a soundtrack I had listened to hundreds of times over the years... I went to find it again on YouTube after I moved and lost it and it was completely different. I honestly felt like I was going mad; every place I found it, it was missing huge parts that I clearly remember hearing. You might be able to explain away some ME's with bad memory, but I know what I used to listen to and today's version isn't it. Same with Isaiah 11:6 "The Lion shall lie down with the Lamb." Every Christian I know remembers it that way. Except it's not the Lion anymore; it's the wolf. Even little things, like places I remember going to often simply don't exist and never have existed. I'm trying to convince myself that this is all bad memory but it doesn't feel right. Something has to be going on at a fundamental, possibly Quantum level. Since our entire universe floats in a sea of probability, it appears that those probabilities don't just collapse into a single outcome and that's that - apparently, Schrödinger's cat is both dead and alive. Not one or the other.

    2. Music is really freaking me out. For example, Red Hot Chili Peppers' song " Under the Bridge" now says "city of angel" instead of "city of angels". This makes no sense whatsoever when referring to Los Angeles, literally "the angels" in Spanish. Plus, I know what words I heard and sang for the last 20-something years, yet I check my iPod and it's different. Don't know what to make of this. Thanks for reading!
