Of course, as an adult, you have other things to do in life besides study maps for fun. With all the political changes in the world with new countries that have formed and others that have dissolved, the current world map looks very foreign to me. Add Mandela Effect changes and I hardly know what planet I'm on. I wish I had been studying maps more closely as an adult to see when things started changing. I actually did notice some changes before even learning about The Mandela Effect, I just didn't have an understanding of hwy the changes had occurred.
Being a Japanophile since I was 9 years old, I was familiar with Japan on the map as well as the other surround countries. Around 2014, I received a free globe after purchasing a camera from a yard sale. The globe was splitting in half at the northern and southern hemispheres and clearly no one except me had wanted to purchase it all day, so the nice couple just gave it to me.
I took it home and patched the split with clear packing tape and the first thing I did was aim my finger for Japan like I used to do as a kid. It was weird when my finger landed on the automatic spot that I was used to, but Japan wasn't there. I searched for Japan and was like, WTF? I don't remember it being so close to the mainland. I remembered is further out in the Pacific and surrounded by a lot more water. I then looked at Korea (my mom's favorite country) thinking I don't remember it being right across from Japan, but much lower.
I had no explanation except that I was in my 30s and hadn't stared at maps in detail in many years and I must be confused. Only recently did I see a video with someone saying that Korea had moved and I knew I wasn't the only one with this memory. In the video below, 724 people as of today, remember Korea being SE of China, as it is in the recreated map on the right.
In the map below,Waterpoke shows a recreated map of Asia, which looks more like the way I remember it in relationship to Japan's and Korea's location. (Mongolia is missing on the recreated map. Some people who experience ME have no recollection of Mongolia being above China, but I do remember it being there.)
There are many other references where people remember Korea in a different place. Even Victor, a Korean person remembers it.
The geographical ME that blew me away: Japan is ridiculously close to Korea and Russia, pretty far from China.
In The Mandela Effect Ascension, Roy Horne states "North and South Korea moved from the familiar spot near Vietnam and are located far North just off the coast of Japan."
If there are any Koreans out there, I'd love to know your opinion on this. Anyone else remembers Korea being south of China?
